Silk Cut Jaguar Le Mans Pit Crew Sign
This sign is a recreation of the sign outside of the Silk Cut Jaguar Pits in 1988.
The 1988 Silk Cut Jaguar XJR-9, driven by Jan Lammers, Johnny Dumfries, and Andy Wallace, was the first Jaguar over the modern era to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans outright. The car completed 394 laps and covered a distance of 5,330.86 km (3,313.15 miles)
The Silk Cut Jaguar was a V-12 racing car developed by Tom Walkinshaw's TWR Racing Team. The cars were painted in the team's distinctive purple, white, and yellow. The XJR-9 was a mainstay of sports car racing, competing in the Group C Championship and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The XJR-9's thunderous V-12 engine and stunning looks made it an iconic race machine and the archetypal shape of the Group C era.
