Guanyu Zhou is the first Chinese driver ever to compete in Formula 1—racing for the Alfa Romeo team since 2022. Born in Shanghai on May 23, 1999, Zhou is now 24 years old as he plots his way through his third season in F1. He stands at a height of 5ft 9ins tall (1.75m).
Zhou was given his first taste of a grand prix weekend in 2021 when participating in FP1 for the Austrian Grand Prix. He was the second Chinese driver to take part in an official grand prix weekend after Ma Qinghua.
Zhou finished 18th in both his debut season (2022) and the 2023 season, scoring six points in each year.
He will continue to race for the team in 2024, and it will be interesting to see how he develops as a driver.
F1 driver salaries and contracts are very closely guarded secrets, and few people know their true value. That said, reports put the value of Zhou's current Alfa Romeo deal at an annual figure of $2 million.
